About METL

MÉTL Studio is about keeping things real. Metal, hands, and tradition. Every piece is made with repujado, the old-school way of pressing aluminum by hand until it carries shape and meaning.

I grew up in Mexico City, watching my mom work with repujado. She had her own set of tools, each one marked with her name, worn smooth over the years. I still use those same tools today, carrying her touch into everything I make.

For me, MÉTL is about connection to where I come from, to my family, and to craft. These aren’t just earrings. Each piece is made by hand, each one unique, and each one meant to be worn, lived in, and passed on.

Aluminum is my choice because it’s strong, lightweight, and honest. I take something simple and turn it into something that reflects meaning. That’s the heart of MÉTL Studio, created by artist Javier Gil.
